Ellen Whitman Bynum (1923-2017) was an American novelist. Born in Massachusetts and brought up in Florida, Ellen Whitman Bynum holds undergraduate degrees in English and Spanish, with a minor in French, from Florida State University at Tallahassee. After marrying Joseph Bynum, moving to Jacksonville, North Carolina, and having three children, she attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she received a master's degree in Education with a major in Spanish. She taught Spanish in the public schools in Jacksonville until retirement. It was an early trip to the Holy Land where she caught the ideas that soon led to the writing of biblical novels.
