Elena N. Meshcherskaya (F / Russia, 20th cent.), scholar

Elena Nikitichna Meshcherskaya is a Russian scholar.

Biography

Graduated from Saint-Petersburg State University, has worked at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Science, Saint-Petersburg (Russia).

Was a Scientific Secretary of the Orthodox Palestine Society (Saint-Petersburg Department) and a member of the board of editors of Orthodox Palestine Journal for a lot of years.

Research interests: Apocrypha and Pseudepigrapha in Oriental Christian Tradition (Syriac, Greek, Slavonic), Christian Hagiography, Christian Himnography, Syriac Palaeography, The History of the Syriac Writing.

Is a Professor at the Department of Biblical Studies at Saint-Petersburg State University.
