El Dios de Jesús: Estudio exegético (1995) is the Spanish edition of Le Dieu de Jésus: Étude exégétique (1987 Schlosser), book.

Abstract

Employing the techniques of literary criticism and the historical-critical method, Schlosser conducts a three-part analysis in order to better understand how Jesus conceived of his relationship with God and the image of God that Jesus presented in his preaching. In other words, Schlosser wants to know 'Who is the God of Jesus'? In part one, Schlosser investigates Jesus' preaching, his sayings, and his parables in order to demonstrate that Jesus portrays God as faithful and trustworthy. This, suggests Schlosser, is a helpful corrective to the way that God has typically been portrayed as a cold and unfeeling deity. In part two, which is arguably the most insightful, Schlosser examines the close relationship between God and Jesus, which culminates in Jesus calling God, "Abba." This close familiarity between the two, argues Schlosser, was unprecedented for time and leads Schlosser to probe its significance in a way that anticipates some of the later articles of James Dunn. In part three, Schlosser closely examines Jesus' precept to love own's enemies and the parable of the laborers in the vineyard, showing that Jesus demonstrates the paradoxical nature of God's love. Those who have it will be challenged by it and those who need it will receive it. An intriguing exegetical work that borders on biblical theology, Schlosser, whose writings tend to focus on the historical Jesus and other New Testament inquiries, had made yet another contribution to the field. ~Deborah Forger
