De mulieribus claris <Latin> / Concerning Famous Women (1473) is the edito princeps of De mulieribus claris (Concerning Famous Women / 1374 Boccaccio), novel (ms.), a manuscript work by Giovanni Boccaccio.

Abstract

Giovanni Boccaccio's work widely circulated in manuscript form. This was only the first printed edition of a very popular work. Thanks to the press, the biographies of women, whose life was of interest for "biblical studies, such as Eve, Athaliah, Mariamne and Poppea, became even more widely known.
