Cornelius Jansenius, the Elder (1510-1576) was a Belgian scholar.

Born at Hulst, Cornelius Jansenius was the first Catholic bishop of the diocese of Ghent (1568). He was doctor in theology and participated at the Council of Trento on behalf of the university. From 1562 until 1568 he was president of the college of theology at Leuven University. Died in Ghent.
