Constantine P. Cavafy (1863-1933) was a Greek poet. Cavafy was born in Alexandria, Egypt into a Greek family. While living several years in England and Constantinople, Alexandria remained his hometown, where he served in the British administration and died in 1933. He is now regarded as one of the major Greek poets of the 20th century.
