Colm Tóibín (b.1955) is a Irish novelist, short story writer, essayist, playwright, journalist, critic, and poet. Professor of the Humanities at Columbia University and of creative writing at the University of Manchester. Chancellor of the University of Liverpool in 2017. One of the most influential public figures in Great Britain.
