Chiel Brauner / Henry Brown (M / Poland, 1928-2011), Holocaust survivor

Biography

Hersch (Hirsch) Brand was born in 1928 in Piotrkow Trybunalski, Poland, to Moszek and Rifka.

The family was forced to live in the Piotrkow Ghetto. After the ghetto was liquidated and his family murdered, Chiel remained in a labor camp in Piotrkow from April 1942 to July 1942. He was then in Buchenwald until April 1945

He eventually ended up in Theresienstadt, where he was liberated in May 1945

He arrived in England with the Windermere Children in August 1945. He settled in the United States.
