Cecil Roth (1899-1970), scholar and novelist

Cecil Roth (1899-1970) was a Jewish-British scholar. History Professor at Oxford from 1938 to 1964 and then visiting professor at Bar-Ilan University, Israel (1964-65) and at the City University of New York (1966-69). Editor of Encyclopedia Judaica. His interest in Jewish history ranged from antiquity to modern times, and led him to author also historical fiction.
