Pompey was the Roman general who conquered Judea in 63 BCE.

Pompey defeated Aristobulus and conquered Jerusalem in 63 BCE. As a result John Hyrcanus II regained the High Priesthood and Antipater was de facto and since c55, de iure in charge of affairs of state.
