Italian American Studies (Governor)

The Italian origins of Rodney, Paca, Longino and Smith (often mentioned as the first Italian American governors) are in some cases dubious and in any case distant.

Poletti was the first appointed governor to have, and claim, close Italian ancestry. John O. Pastore was the first to be elected to the office in 1946 (after his appointment in 1945). Ella Tambussi Grasso the first Italian American woman to become governor in 1975.
