Overview
1 Enoch introduces Gabriel as one of the four Archangels performing God's vengeance against the Fallen Angels.
In the Book of Daniel, Gabriel acts as a revealer of God's will and interpreter in two visions (chs. 8 & 9).
In 2 Enoch, Gabriel is the angel announcing to Nir the miraculous birth of Melchizedek. In the Gospel of Luke, he is the one who announced to Zacharias the birth of John the Baptist and to Mary the birth of Jesus of Nazareth.
In Islam, Gabriel (Jibra'il) is the angel assigned by God to deliver his revelation to all apostles and prophets. He announced to Mary the birth of Jesus of Nazareth and revealed the Qur'an to Muhammad.
