Antonio Cesari (1760-1828) was an Italian Roman Catholic writer and an acclaimed linguist. Born in Verona, Italy and a member of the Order of Saint Philip Neri, he wrote several treatises defending the "purity" of the Italian language in its Tuscan-Florentine form. He also wrote literary retellings of the Gospels and the Acts of the Apostles.
