Alfonso Capecelatro (1824-1912) was an Italian Roman Catholic theologian and cardinal. Born in Marseille into a noble family from Naples, at sixteen he entered the Oratory of St. Philip Neri at Naples and was ordained priest in 1847. He was author of numerous works of theology and ecclesiastical history. In 1880 he was appointed Archbishop of Capua and in 1885 was made a cardinal by Leo XIII. From 1890 to his death was the Librarian of the Vatican Apostolic Library. He died in Capua.
