Aleksandr Il’ich Tiumenev (1880-1959) was a Russian scholar. Aleksandr Il’ich Tiumenev was born in St Petersburg in 1880. He graduated from the faculty of History and Philology at the University of St Petersburg in 1904. From 1928 to 1931, he was a researcher in ancient history at the Leningrad Division of the Communist Academy and at the State Academy of the History of Material Culture from 1931 to 1938. In 1932 he became a member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1932). He died in Leningrad [St Petersburg] in 1959.
