Matvei Ivanovich Sokolov (1855-1906) was a Russian scholar.

Graduated from Saint-Petersrburg University, was a professor at Moscow University.

Dedicated more than 20 years of his life to studying of 2 Enoch, discovered most of the Slavonic manuscripts that contain the text.

The result of this comprehensive work is a posthumous book on 2 Enoch (prepared by M.Speranskij).
