Jésus et les dieux guérisseurs: à propos de Jean, V (1970) is a book by Antoine Duprez

Abstract

The author considers the archeological location of the pool of Beth-za'tha of John 5, a former sanctuary to Asclepius, a place where those who sought healing congregated in hope of betterment. The author suggests that by including the reference to this place of healing the fourth evangelist stressed the point that Jesus was and is the true healer who heals not through mysterious offerings but through his word.
