Günther Bornkamm (1905-1990) was a German scholar.

Biography

Günther Bornkamm (1905-1990) was a German New Testament scholar. Bornkamm was Professor of New Testament at the University of Heidelberg. Bornkamm was a student of Bultmann and a colleague of Hans Conzelmann and Ernst Kasemann. Bornkamm’s book Jesus of Nazareth (1956) ignited renewed interest in the historical Jesus. His book Paul demonstrated continuity between Paul and the earlier teachings of Jesus.
