Overview
According to Rabbinic tradition, Shimon was the son of Gamaliel and succeeded his father as the Nasi of the Sanhedrin about 50 CE. He is remembered as one of Ten Jewish Martyrs killed by the Romans.
The traditional burial place of Shimon ben Gamaliel is located at Kafr Kanna near the Golani Junction in the lower Galilee of northern Israel and has been an important site for Jewish pilgrims for centuries.
