Overview

The Twelve Patriarchs were the sons of Jacob and his two wives (Leah and Rachel) and their respective handmaidens (Zilpah and Bilhah).

First Jacob had four children with Leah (i.e. Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah), then two children with Bilhah (i.e. Dan and Naphtali) and two children Zilpah (i.e. Gad and Asher). Leah then gave to Jacob two other sons (i.e. Issachar and Zebulon). Finally the two children of Rachel (i.e. Joseph and Benjamin) were born.
