Historical Jesus Studies in Chinese -- Works & Authors '

The works on Jesus written in Chinese for a long time were mainly theological works aimed to missionary purposes. The situation change radically in the late 1990s when some of the classics of the Historical Jesus Research began to be translated in Chinese (Schweitzer, Renan) along with some of the most influential contemporary books (Crossan, Ehrman, Wright).

The international success of The Da Vince Code (and its translation in Chinese in 2004) generated a lot of interest and controversies and a flow of publications and favored the translation of other influential texts (Dunn).

The interest has continued in the 2010s with the publication of works by Ehrman and Borg.
