Nain (Modern Nein, Israel) was a small town in Galilee.

Overview

Nain is mentioned in the Gospel of Luke (7:11-17) as the setting of one of the Miracles of Jesus. See Young Man from Nain.

Luke 7:11 (NRSV) -- He [i.e. Jesus] went to a town called Nain, and his disciples and a large crowd went with him.

Nain in scholarship

The location of the village was first identified by Edward Robinson and Eli Smith in the mid-19th century.
