Herbert Marsh (1757-1839) was a British scholar.
Biography
Born at Faversham, Kent, Marsh was educated at King's School, Canterbury and St. John's College, Cambridge. In 1785 he traveled to Germany where he studied with Johann David Michaelis. In 1807 he was elected the Lady Margaret's Professor of Divinity at Cambridge. His lectures in English broke the tradition of teaching in Latin and were highly popular. In 1816 he was appointed bishop of Llandaff and then, in 1819, bishop of Peterborough.
