The iconographic changes in the representation of Moses in Christian art follow very closely those of [[Jesus of Nazareth]]. Moses also is at the beginning depicted as a beardless young man in a classical dalmatic and pallium. By the 10th century, he is now an old man with a beard, holding his rod. Some episodes of the life of Moses became particularly popular, notably, [[Child Moses]], the [{Burning Bush]], the [[Crossing of the Red Sea]], the [[Fall of the Manna]], the [[Water from the Rock]], the [[Ten Commandments]] and in the New Testament, the [[Transfiguration of Jesus]].
 
The now "traditional" image of Moses was the one inherited by the first movies. Gradually however Moses has become young again in order to  project the image of a strong and energetic leader.
