Lawrence Alma-Tadema (photo)

Lawrence Alma-Tadema (1836-1912) was a Dutch-born British artist. Specialized in paintings of historical subject. Had friendship with several prominent scholars of the ancient world and traveled to Pompeii in 1863 to explore its ruins.
