In this celebrated film, the protagonist, a faded silent movie star ([[Gloria Swanson]]), dreams of making a triumphal return to the screen as [[Salome]]. Curiously, [[Gloria Swanson]], who in her career never played the role of [[Salome]], in [[Stage Struck (1925 Dwan), film]] had already interpreted the part of a young waitress who fantasied to be Salome on the stage.
