In this celebrated film, the protagonist, a faded silent movie star (Gloria Swanson), dreams of making a triumphal return to the screen as Salome. Curiously, Gloria Swanson, who in her career never played the role of Salome, in [[Stage Struck (1925 Dwan), film]] had already interpreted the part of a young waitress who fantasied to be Salome on the stage.
