''' Solomiya Krushelnytska ''' (Соломі́я Амвро́сіївна Крушельни́цька; 1872-1952) was an Ukrainian opera singer and one of the brightest stars of the first half of the 20th century. In 1906 she was chosen by conductor [[Arturo Toscanini]] as the first [[Salome]] at [[Teatro alla Scala, Milan, Italy]]. Although officially, this was scheduled to be the second Italian performance of [[Salome]] after the Turin premiere, by opening the dress rehearsal to the public and the press, Arturo Toscanini managed to present the opera in Milan one day before its official opening in Turin.
