''' Rudolph Schildkraut ''' (M / Austria, United States, 1862-1930) was a Jewish actor, active in Europe and then in the United States. In 1927, American filmmaker [[Cecil B. DeMille]] asked Rudolph and his son [[Joseph Schildkraut|Joseph]] to play the two major "distinctively Jewish" characters in his movie on the Life of Jesus, i.e., [[Caiaphas]] and [[Judas Iscariot]], respectively. For [[Joseph Schildkraut]] this would not remain the only biblical roles of his career; he also featured [[Herod the Great]] in 1935 and [[Nicodemus]] in 1965.
