==Abstract==
First and very brief adaptation of [[Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ (1880 Wallace), novel]], with the chariot race dominating the footage.  It is important in cinema history in that it resulted in the first lawsuit against a motion picture company for the violation of a literary copyright, thus establishing the premise of motion picture rights to books and plays.
