"In questa monografia J.H. Charlesworth illustra ampiamente l'esteso corpus letterario che va sotto il nome di «pseudepigrafi dell'Antico Testamento», mostrando sia quanto queste opere siano imprescindibili per la comprensione della storia e del pensiero dei secoli che hanno visto il sorgere del giudaismo sinagogale e del cristianesimo, sia il loro significato per gli studi biblici in generale e per la teologia e cristologia neotestarnentarie in particolare. Dai rotoli del Mar Morto e dal gran numero oggi disponibile di pseudepigrafi dell'Antico Testamento -non pochi dei quali fino a ieri trascurati quando non sconosciuti -, viene una conoscenza del tutto nuova del vasto patrimonio letterario del giudaismo dei tempi neotestamentari, che induce a ripensare più di un aspetto del primo cristianesimo. In appendice, oltre a una guida bibliografica agli pseudepigrafi dell'Antico Testamento in rapporto al Nuovo, sono riportate le minute dei seminari che la Studiorum Novi Testamenti Societas ha dedicato tra il 1976 e il 1983 agli pseudepigrafi dell'Antico Testamento."--Publisher description.
