The Life and Morals of Jesus of Nazareth (1820) is a book by Thomas Jefferson.

Abstract

By cutting those passages that Jefferson deemed later additions by the Church, Jefferson created an harmonized "gospel" (the "Jefferson Bible")

Editions and translations

Written around 1820, it circulated privately among Jefferson's friends and passed among his relatives. Rediscovered in the 1895 at the Smithsonian, it was first published in 1902 in St Louis, MO and then in 1904 by the Congress in Washington, DC. The life of Jesus by Jefferson omitted any references to miracles, angels, the resurrection and the divinity of Jesus.
