The Rule of the Community (1QS) (Community Rule, Manual of Discipline; see online text) is a document included in modern collections of the Dead Sea Scrolls.
Overview
The COmmunity Rule is commoly regarded as one of the "sectarian texts" among the Dead Sea Scrolls. It was unknown before the discovery of the mss. in the late '40, but was one one the first the be published in 1950.
In contrast with Damascus Document (which seems to be aimed to regulate the lives of the many Essene communities in villages and towns of Israel), the Rule of the Community seems to focus on a single community (the yahad).
