Max Hicks Savelle (1896-1979) was an American novelist and novelist. Born in Mobile, Alabama. Received his BA from Columbia University in 1925, and MA in 1926, and a PhD in 1932. He was an instructor of history at Columbia and then moved to Stanford University in 1932. During his years at Stanford he became a noted historian in American Colonial history, particularly in the field of diplomatic history of America, and was promoted to professor in 1941. Savelle eventually joined the University of Washington faculty in the autumn of 1947. Died in Seattle on September 12, 1979.
