Matthias ben Ananus, of the House of Annas, was the Jewish High Priest, 43 CE, under King Herod Agrippa I and Emperor Claudius.

Overview

Matthias ben Ananus was a member of the House of Annas; he succeeded Simon Cantheras ben Boethus of the House of Boethus. During the reign of Herod Agrippa I, members of the two Priestly Houses regularly alternated. After his brief tenure, Matthias ben Ananus was succeeded by a member of the House of Boethus, Elionaeus ben Cantheras.
