Biography
Maria (Mania) Kopel was born 1932 in Krasnobrody, Poland.
She lost her entire family: parents and five siblings. She survived wandering and working as a servant in different farms. "I have not got a friend in the world".
"She was hiding in the countryside with a peasant. The entire family was murdered. She was saved from death by the son of the village leader, who was killed by the Ukrainians for hiding a Jewish woman. After liberation, she was given to the Jewish Orphanage in Chorzów."
