Juditha triumphans devicta Holofernis barbarie <Latin> (1716) is an oratorio by Antonio Vivaldi (mus.) and Iacopo Cassetti (libr.).

Abstract

Based on the Book of Judith, the oratorio was commissioned to celebrate the victory of Venice against the Turks during the siege of Corfu.

Editions, performances

Premiered in Venice [Italy]: Ospedale della Pietà, November 1716, at the presence of the General of the victorious Venetian army, Johann Matthias von der Schulenburg.
