Jews, Christians, and Muslims in Iceland

Pagan Iceland was Christianized around the year 1000. During the Reformation, Iceland adopted Lutheranism.

Neither Judaism nor Islam have historical roots in Iceland.

Contemporary times

Today, the overwhelming majority of Icelandic population (75-80%) is Lutheran, with only small minorities of other Christian denominations.

The presence of Muslims has recently increased as the result of immigration. Only a handful of Jews live in Iceland.
