Hetty Weiner-Fisch / Hetty Klein (F / Slovakia, 1932), Holocaust survivor

Biography

Hetty Weiner-Fisch was born May 30, 1932 in Bratislava, Slovakia, to Geza, an eye specialist, and Jeanette. Mother died when she was three years old. She was raised by her aunt and uncle in Zilina, Slovakia.

In May 1944, when the Gestapo began rounding up the Jews, she was hidden by some neighbors (later, recognized as "righteous among the nations").

After Liberation, Hetty reunited with her uncle and aunt in Prague, Czechia.

In April 1948 she was among the orphans (the Schonfeld Children) send to England, where she lived with relatives. Eventually, she settled in Israel where she reunited with her aunt and uncle.
