Abstract

"In 1945, the book by Giancarlo Ottani, Un popolo piange: la tragedia degli ebrei italiani (A People Weep: The Tragedy of the Italian Jews) was published in Milan by Spartaco Giovine. This was a collection of witness accounts of the persecution received by men and women “of the Jewish race” in the San Vittore Prison in Milan, the transit camp at Fossoli, and in the concentration camps. The book also reported Princess Mafalda of Savoy’s imprisonment and death at Buchenwald and the Nazi massacre at Meina."--
