Abstract

Valenzi and Gaddi were the only Italians who could express their opposition against racism and antisemitism. Both members of the Communist party, they could publish their works outside Italy, In Tunisia and France, respectively. Gaddi's pamphlet was published by the Lega internazionale contro il razzismo e l'antisemitismo. Founded in 1927 by French journalist Bernard Lecache, the LICRA (Ligue internationale contre le racisme et l'antisémitisme) was in the 1930s the most vocal association in continental Europe against racism and antisemitism.

About the Author

A member of the Italian Communist Party, Giuseppe Gaddi was an anti-Fascist essayist and political activist.
