Among the Jewish refugees interned at Ferrandina in 1940-43 were three children from Czechia: Paul Hirsch (1929), and Paul & Wilhem Wittenberg (1933, 1934).

From Czechia Paul Hirsch went to Ljubljana (1940) with his mother. They were first interned at Ferrandina (1940) and then transferred to [[Ferramonti) in the summer 1941. They were liberated at Ferramonti (Sept. 1943) and moved to DP Lecce (Nov 1944).

From Czechia, Paul and Wilhelm Wittenberg went to Fiume (1940) with their parents. They were first interned at Lanciano (June 1940) with their mother, while father was sent to Ferramonti. The family reunited at Ferrandina in the Summer 1941. They were liberated at Ferrandina (Sep. 1943), and moved to Fort Ontario in July 1944.
