Overview
The character of Daniel is present, in a support role, only in a few oratorios or operas, most notably, in Haendel's oratorio Belshazzar and Rossini's opera Ciro in Babilonia. In both works, Daniel appears only in one scene, announcing his prophecy. The role is played by a contralto in Haendel and by a bass in Rossini.
