Claudio Monteverdi (M / Italy, 1567-1643), composer
Born and educated in Cremona, Italy, Monteverdi developed his career first at the court of Mantua (c.1590–1613) and then until his death in the Republic of Venice where he was maestro di cappella at the basilica of San Marco. In 1617, he contributed to the music for "La Maddalena", a sacra rappresentazione by Giovan Battista Andreini, with Salomone Rossi, Muzio Effrem, and Alessandro Ghivazzani]]. Although not directly dealing with Jewish or Christian themes, his opera L'incoronazione di Poppea (1643) explores events and characters like Nero, Poppea and Seneca, who are relevant for Christian Origins.
