Celina Sternlicht / Celina Zborowski (F / Poland, 1934-2021), Holocaust survivor

Biography

Celina Zborowski (née Sternlicht) was born in 1934 in Kraków, Poland and spent the war years hiding in the forests of Poland and Czechoslovakia with her mother. After liberation, Celina was reunited with her brother Mark z’l, and later her father who miraculously survived a Russian labor camp. The family emigrated to the United States in 1951 and settled in the Bronx. A short time later, Celina met and married Marvin Zborowski, also a Holocaust survivor, and the two ultimately settled in Jamaica Estates, NY. Celina devoted her life to Holocaust remembrance and education, and supported Yad Vashem and its sacred mission from the very beginning.
