Cattedrale di Santo Stefano (Duomo di Prato) is a church in Prato, Italy (Tuscany).


Overview

The Cattedrale di Santo Stefano is one of the most ancient churches in the city of Prato, Italy. It was already in existence in the 10th century. It was built in several successive stages in the Romanesque style. The church contains a number of notable works of art.

In 1465 the Main Chapel (Cappella Maggiore) of the Church was decorated by Filippo Lippi with a cycle of frescoes illustrating four stories from the Life of Stephen, and four stories from the Life of John the Baptist. The cycle also includes the portraits of the Four evangelists on the vaults.
