Antonio Cesti (M / Italy, 1623-1669), composer

Born and educated in Arezzo, Italy, he joined the Franciscan order in 1637. While he was in Volterra his interests turned more toward secular music. He lived many years in Austria (at Innsbruck and Vienna) as one of the court composers. He authored several operas on classical subjects, including Il Tito, which deals with he love story between Titus and Berenice. Cesti died in Venice in 1669
