(+) Alcorani textus universus (1698 Marracci), book (Latin)
Alcorani textus universus <Latin> (1698) is a book by Ludovico Marracci.
Abstract
"Ex correctioribus Arabum exemplaribus summa fide, atque pulcherrimis characteribus descriptus, Eademque fide, ac pari diligentia ex Arabico idiomate in Latinum translatus; Appositis unicuique capiti notis, atque refutatione: His omnibus præmissus est Prodromus Totum priorum Tomum implens, In quo contenta indicantur pagina sequenti, auctore Ludovico Marraccio."
Latin translation of the Quran from the Arabic text, followed by an essay ("Refutation of the Qur'an") aimed to disprove Islam from the then Catholic point of view. In spite of its anti-Islamic tendency, however, Marracci’s translation was accurate and represented an improvement from previous translations.
