==Abstract==
The interest to this work it is how the Judaism of Second Temple interprets and read poems like those of Isaiah. The theme and subject of the Suffering Servant's Poems was a source of many interesting interpretations. Grelot combines in this work two methods, the critical approach and a hermeneutic study about the text. His purpose is to base the hermeneutic within the framework of the rigorous criticism. By this study he wants to show an example of the hermeneutic thought that leans on rigorous criticism. The author analyze the text, put in its context, and propose a historical and literary study about the interpretations in historical period of Second Temple's Judaism, in the New Testament and in the Isaiah's Targoum. He ends with a proposition of hermeneutic and theological reading for today of Suffering Servant's Poems.'''Matteo Silvestrini''' University of Lausanne
==Abstract==
This publication collects and orders various articles written from 1950 by Barthélemy. Himself tend to summarize in a coordinated way its researches around the textual problems of the Greek reviews and the translations of biblical texts. This work exposes the stages of his researches. The greats importance is given to the seminar and meeting during the seventies years (since 1969). His studies are led with very technical philological tools and with very rigorous method. They concern the relationship between different reviews of the Greek and Hebrew text, like the LXX, the Aquila translation, the Justin Martyr quotation, the Massoretic and others Hebrew versions. - '''Matteo Silvestrini'''. ==Abstract==
- '''Matteo Silvestrini.
'''Le judaïsme avant Jésus-Christ''' (1931) is a book by [[Marie-Joseph Lagrange]].

==Abstract==
The goal of this work is to present in general way some facts and aspects of Judaism. Lagrange presents the history of the Jewish people from the captivity in Babylon until the end of the first century CE. Lagrange begins by discussing the traditional point of view concerning foundation of Judaism and the formation of the Pentateuch. The law given by God to Moses and the special relationship between the people and their God are definitively settled in the times of Nehemiah. Judaism is ready to face the spirit of Hellenism. Thus Lagrange discusses the Greek and Hellenistic religion in a primarily historical manner. He analyzes the consequences of Hellenistic influence on Judaism, in particular the apocalyptic literature. Through these texts and through other apocryphal, historical and pseudepigraphical texts, he explains the historical, religious and sociological situation of Judaism - its movements, its institutions, and its thoughts. Lagrange discusses also the foreign influences on Judaism by the Iranian, Babylonian, Greek and Egyptian religions. He ends with an discussion of the development of the later Jewish theological reflection and the Judaism in Egypt including its history and its main personalities. He concludes with a apologetic view of Christianity's revelation, in contrast with the rabbinic religion, which, refusing this revelation, has not been faithful with Old Testament's roots. Thus his thought and his analysis, though critical, is compatible with Catholic dogma. - '''Matteo Silvestrini, University of Lausanne''' -

==Abstract==
Marcel Simon collected the notes of Roger Goossens in order to finish the work of the Belgian scholar who died before finishing his book. Simon deepens and coordinates his notes with his study about the Jewish sects in the time of Jesus. After having explained the utilization of the word 'sect,' Simon describes the sects of the Sadducees, Pharisees and Zealots using various sources. His analysis paints a reality dominated by the struggle for the religious supremacy between the Sadducees and Pharisees. The latter group, in the normative way, are more progressive than the Sadducees. Pharisees include in their thought foreign elements, without bad consequences for their affiliation to the Judaism, because their religious practice was direct on the orthopraxy and not orthodoxy. Zealots is a marginal group of nationalist terrorists. One great chapter is dedicated to Essenism and the manuscripts of Qumran. For Simon, following the Essene theory, identifies the owners of manuscripts with the Essene sect, described by Josephus, Pliny, and Philo. He compares the notices of ancient writers with the manuscripts' contents. Thus he describe the traits of this marginal and strong sectarian group of Judaism. After, he discusses about others marginals sects, using like sources the writings of Justin Martyr and Hegesippus. He analyzes what he calls Alexandrian Judaism, deepening the write of Philo, the Aristea's letter, the Therapeuts' movement. He conclude with a search on the roots of Jesus' movements (he proposes the Essenism through John Baptist) and the early Christian's theology (from the thought of Philo and Alexandrian Judaism). - '''Matteo Silvestrini''' University of Lausanne

==Abstract==
This work has the admitted goal of restoring justice to the Judaism of the Second Temple period and of explaining the complexity of this period. For Guignebert scholars can no longer lock Judaism inside the well protected hedge of formalism. Judaism is for him a complex, plural and constantly evolving religious fact, undergoing the influences of Hellenism and the historic situation of its time. The book analyzes in a critical way the religious situation in Palestine around the time of Jesus, without prejudice and bringing out the pluralism of the sources. The book discusses the geography of the country, the political situation, and the Jewish movements and institutions. Also he presents the Pharisaic movement in a completely new way, by accepting the Jewish scholars' works. He ends by showing the liveliness of Jewish spiritual life and a synchretism, from which arose two paths, which finally ends with the Talmud and in the Gospel. -- '''Matteo Silvestrini''', University of Lausanne
De Vaux exposes the Old Testament's institutions, like the clan, family, royalty, state, slavery, priesthood, others religious institutions etc., looking the historical elements of biblical text's. He confronts these elements with archaeology, comparative anthropology, sociology, and literary comparative analysis, to deepen the historical elements of analyzed aspects. For De Vaux the Old Testament's texts were edited in the Persian period, and he support the documentary theory. Nevertheless for him, the text contains history, material, memoirs or simple reminiscences of the Israelite and monarchic period.
==Biography==
Marcel Simon was a historian of the religions. He studied to the middle school of Thann, then to the high school Louis-le-Grand, then to the École normale supérieure. Received in the aggregation of history, he became a boarder of the French School of Rome. During the Second Worlds War he contributed to the Liberation from the Nazism. Expert of Scandinavian, Hebraic and Jewish culture, and of the Islam's world, he founded in Strasbourg the Institute of religions' history, and the Research center of religions' history. He become professor of Religions' History and he has been Doyen of the Faculty of Letters (Arts) in Strasbourg's University. He was a specialist of the relations between the Christianity and the Judaism in the early Christianity. His works not only follow the new appreciation about Judaism before 70, but also contributes to change the view about the Rabbinic Judaism after 135. For Simon the Judaism is a dynamic and proselytist religion, in competition with early Christianity, until the V century CE. He was member of the Institut de France (Académie des inscriptions et belles-lettres).
==Abstract==
In the introduction of this book Dupont-Sommer presents the history of the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls' caves, and a short presentation of manuscripts. In the work he discusses the Essenes in ancient literature and analyzes the sectarian texts. He concludes explaining the main aspects of the sect's history and the Teacher of Righteousness, further developing his Essene hypothesis and discussing the rapport between the Essenes and early Christianity. This book completes his previous works about the Qumran texts, by combining, after twelve years, the new elements and the new developments. -- '''Matteo Silvestrini''' -- University of Lausanne

'''Les écrits esséniens découverts près de la mer morte''' <French> (1959) is a book by [[André Dupont-Sommer]].

==Abstract==
